My Lazy Lately

Well it's sure been awhile since I've posted anything here and I'm afraid it's simply that I've been so super lazy/tired/constantly horizontal/eating non stop/rapidly expanding;)

I did actually do my first Perth market stall at the start of June in South Freo which was fun, but since then it's been hard staying motivated. Apart from a few dresses for my shop, the only other stitchings  I have done include this cushion:

which I used this beautiful stained glass fabric that I bought a few years ago from Spoonflower that I actually hoped to make into a top but didn't have enough as I couldn't afford to buy much of it:( But I'm happy I can look at it and snuggle on it everyday now.

And I FINALLY made a new ironing board cover. Oh my goodness how the old one was doing my head in! I can't believe I left it for so long, especially as it took me only about 5 minutes to whip it up!

All I did was take off the top dodgy cover (I had a few on there hoping that would fix things!) and left the good padded ones on for a smooth board. Then I just lay the new fabric over it and cut around the board with about 15cm extra to make a casing. I then just overlocked the edges, made a 1cm casing and threaded some bias tape (I didn't have any other ropey device) through it. Pulled tight and tied underneath, my new ironing board cover is going nowhere!

My Shop Is Open For Business!

Hi All!

I hope you've all had a great weekend, especially if you're a mum for Mother's Day on Sunday! I got spoilt with this amazing breakfast from my daughter!

My Mother's Day Breakfast
The last few weeks has seen me quite hunched over my Esmoo while crazily sewing dresses for my new MadeIt.com shop. You can check it out here and also the Facebook page.

My new shop!
This week I aim to do a bit of home sewing like more work on my band shirt blanket, a new cushion and maybe a new ironing board cover so it doesn't continue to drive me insane as it comes off every time I iron (which is a lot!). See how I go!

Have a great week!

Road Tripping With My Two Favourite Allies

Road trips are fun. Especially when they are with your favourite people and you're going to explore a new place. Yummy snacks and awesome tunes are also vital and luckily we had both in spades. My iPod decided to be a little obsessed with only playing Pearl Jam, Faith No More and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club songs even though it was on shuffle all songs, but really it was heaven to our ears!
We left Perth and headed south to Esperance, stopping along the way in various little towns and of course to check out Wave Rock. Definitely a cool geological site but I must admit it was a lot smaller than I imagined after studying it years ago at uni.

We had quite rainy weather in Esperance but I managed to scour the two op shops there for a few stitchy bargains then it was on to check out the most amazing beaches I've seen in a long time! A lovely drive took us to Pink Lake (not so pink in the rain) and the Esperance Stonehenge - seriously some people have either too much money or time!

A few nights later it was time to head back and we thought going via Albany would be a nice change of scenery. Lush green rolling hills greeted us all along the way and we encountered no less than 12 amazing rainbows! I lost count after that, it was just too cool and they were so vivid! Stopping off in Albany for the sole purpose of checking out their op shops was a nice break and well worth the 3 hour detour!

Now to get back into the swing of things this week, school starts back up and I have a couple of dress orders to do so all stations go. I hope you all have had a great week also!

A Busy Week and Some Overdue Changes

Well I am buggered! It's been a very busy week for us all and I'm very glad to see the start of school holidays! Firstly we went south to Rockingham to swim with dolphins which was so much fun and such a relaxing experience. Those things are huge and to see them up close swimming all around us was amazing.
Looking super stylish in our attractive wetsuits!

Watching these cool animals surf alongside the boat

My little snorkelling noodle!

As well as getting all close with dolphins, this week was Indi's school class assembly which they have been preparing for many weeks. The theme was When I Grow Up and it was absolutely the cutest thing seeing them all up on stage in their little costumes. Indi was an astronaut so I made this costume for her to be ready to take on the cosmos!

In other news this week, Mikal and I had our 11th year together in love and I was lucky enough to get an awesome bunch of my most favourite flowers. It was also the day of our 20 week scan of our baby and I guess we could both breath a little easier after seeing the little beetle move all around.
From the sunshine in my life!
I've also been very busy sewing up my first ladies dress which is called 'The Skip to my Lou Dress' named after my awesome friend Lou who ordered the very first one. This one is made in a beautiful vintage navy floral fabric and will be ready for sale in my shop very soon. Here is a little sneak peek:

To top off the week, I got a lovely surprise in the mail from two sweet friends which is always the best thing! There is nothing better than receiving lovely handwritten mail and opening it over a cup of tea! Especially when it includes a cool mag from Townsville, complete with little handwritten notes :) and some postcards that explain things so well! Thanks Amber!

And just because it's that time of year where I feel like changing/tidying up/getting organised I've decided to update this little blog of mine just a tad. I hope you like the update! Have a great week, I plan to do a lot of sleeping in (no walking to school for 2 weeks! Yay!) and doing lots of fun sewing and crafty goodness with my moon.

Mad Men Challenge 2013 - My Little Sally Draper

So here is my Mad Men Challenge outfit for this year. My little Sally Draper. I loved her cute 60's flowery shift dress and I thought Indi would look sweet in a similar one with some vintage fabric I remembered I had.

I had aimed to also make a Peggy replica for myself but due to a lot of craziness occurring in my sewing world of late, I just didn't get time. Maybe next year?

Bring on the next season! I CAN NOT WAIT!! Sorry for the capitals, I'm very excited!!!
Thanks to Julia Bobbin for setting this up again!
